Tacony moves Conwell show, also preps for history day

In Tacony, the Tommy Conwell concert has been rescheduled while plans continue for the neighborhood’s annual history day festivities.

Rain washed out Conwell’s scheduled Aug. 25 concert at Disston Recreation Center, at 4500 Disston St. (at Glenloch Street). The event, the last in a six-part summer concert series, has been rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Historical Society of Tacony is conducting a Cow Chip Bingo fund-raiser leading up to the 20th annual Tacony History Day, which also takes place at Disston Recreation Center.

The parade and festival are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17.

Visitors can purchase a square for $10. At 2 p.m., squares will be laid out evenly on the field. A cow will “choose” a square, and the winner will receive $5,000.

To buy a square in advance, call 215–338–8790 or stop by Tacony Library, at 6742 Torresdale Ave. (at Knorr Street). ••
